Wangxia Expressway (Wangergantang to Xiahe) is a key transportation project in Gansu Province. It holds significant strategic importance for promoting tourism development in the Gan Nan region and strengthening ethnic unity. The seventh section is located in a complex terrain with a high proportion of bridges, which imposes extremely high requirements on the precision, strength and durability of the steel components. 

The traditional open-air, decentralized steel processing mode has failed to meet the efficiency, precision and environmental protection requirements of modern highway construction. Therefore, the project department of the Seventh Project decided to build a modern steel processing plant that integrates "centralization, factory production, and intelligence", aiming to control the quality of steel from the source through unified management and centralized processing, reduce waste, and improve the overall construction efficiency. 

II. Key Features of the Steel Reinforcement Processing Factory 

Standardized factory layout with clear functional divisions

The processing plant adopts closed management. The factory area is divided into areas for raw material storage, processing and production, semi-finished product storage, and finished product inspection. Each area is clearly marked, and the logistics channels are smooth, ensuring the continuous production line operation of the steel bars from entry to exit, effectively avoiding the problems of material mixing, secondary handling, and low efficiency caused by inefficiency. 

2. Intelligent equipment empowerment, achieving dual improvements in accuracy and efficiency

The factory has introduced a number of advanced domestic CNC equipment: 

CNC Steel Bar Bending Center: Automatically completes the measurement and bending of steel bars, with an accuracy up to the millimeter level, and the product consistency is excellent.

CNC Steel Bar Bending Machine: Specifically used for processing special components such as arc-shaped beams and arch rings, with precise forming and no surface damage.

CNC Steel Bar Cutting and Threaded Inserting Production Line: Achieves integrated operations of automatic measurement, cutting, and threading, with stable thread quality, providing a reliable guarantee for the mechanical connection of steel bars.

The application of these intelligent devices has significantly reduced the reliance on skilled workers, reduced human errors, and increased processing efficiency by approximately 40% compared to traditional methods. 

3. Integrated information management, with quality traceability throughout the process

The processing plant has adopted a steel bar processing management information system. Each batch of raw materials has a unique "identity card" (QR code), recording information such as model, origin, and batch number. During the processing, information such as operation instructions, equipment parameters, and operators is all recorded by the system. Ultimately, each finished steel bar cage or component is equipped with an information label that enables traceability throughout the entire life cycle from "raw materials" to "semi-finished products", ensuring that any quality issues can be traced back to the source. 

4. Strict Quality Control System

Within the factory, there are dedicated quality inspectors who strictly follow the "three-check system" (self-check, mutual-check, and specialized-check). They conduct item-by-item inspections on the specifications, dimensions, welding quality, and thread accuracy of the reinforcing bars, and also conduct spot checks using professional tools such as torque wrenches to ensure that 100% of the products leaving the factory meet the design and specification requirements. 

III. Outstanding Management and Project Outcomes 

Management standardization:

Detailed "Rebar Processing Factory Management System" and "Safety Production Operating Procedures" were formulated, achieving standardized operation with "management based on systems, operation following procedures, and process under control". 

2. Maximization of Benefits: 

Quality and Efficiency: The qualification rate of finished products exceeds 99.8%, laying a solid foundation for building the "quality project" of Wangxia Expressway.

Economic Benefits: Centralized processing reduces the repeated investment in equipment and lowers material losses (approximately 5% reduction), effectively controlling the overall cost.

Time Efficiency: Stable semi-finished product supply ensures the continuity of the construction site ahead, avoiding idle work caused by insufficient supply of reinforcing bars, and effectively promoting the overall construction progress.

VII. Social Benefits and Industry Demonstration Value 

The successful practice of the steel processing plant in the seventh section of Wangxia Expressway not only serves as a benchmark within this project, but also plays a positive exemplary role in the industry.
